Frédéric Gracia

Espace, Matière et lumière noire

After studying Applied Arts and a necessary stint as an illustrator in a graphic design studio, Frédéric Gracia quickly felt drawn to grand journeys; the call of distant horizons... Exploring the world and visual art, being rather compatible, naturally merged, becoming a true driving force and inspiration for each other. Thus began a globetrotting decorator's journey that eventually led him to California, after much wandering, including in the literal sense, as he worked for a time on the Mermoz, the famous Paquet Cruises ship, employed as an onboard decorator for shows around the South American continent, from Rio to Miami, via Cape Horn, the Galapagos Islands, and the Panama Canal... The dream

Frédéric Gracia's work spread far and wide (why not?), encompassing paintings and frescoes commissioned here and there, canvases sold in Los Angeles, portraits in Saigon, trompe-l'œil in San Francisco; from t-shirts in Kowloon to a 54-square-meter panoramic mural on the theme of Provence commissioned by the Le Méridien hotel in San Diego, California, in 1996; exploring Florida, stopping in New York for a fluorescent mural, returning to Hong Kong, Munich, or Paris, as if by a leitmotif, to leave his mark in every corner of the globe. His brushstrokes even ventured to the far reaches of Central Asia (Turkmenistan) for the interior illuminations of a mosque dome. These undeniable influences, poetic vehicles, and veritable image banks, along with his travel memories, have become, over time, an inexhaustible source for his artistic exploration.
